About
Coach Corey Turnbeaugh
Coaching Experience:
In 2003 and 2004 I was the Wide receiver/ TE coach at Dana College with having one of the most explosive passing games in NAIA. In 2007 I was the JV Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator/QB/WR/DB coach of the Carlmont Scots. I then was the Head Varsity football coach in 2009 still O-cord/QB coach running a no huddle Offense and breaking records for passing. I then stepped down to be just the o-coordinator for the Scots for the next two years, and one year do to work was an assistant in the booth for the games.
I have coached HS girls basketball, and boys middle school basketball for three years. While coaching at the middle school I coached girls Volleyball. During the off-season I coached the Scots in track as well
Most recently I was a coach at Saint Ignatius, in San Francisco helping take a High Jumper to state finals this year. I continue to develop my coaching skills, collaborate, and partner with other coaches for personal and game improvement. I consistently demonstrates respect for all players, coaches, officials, and upholds the spirit as well as the letter of the rules of the game.
Philosophy:
“My coaching philosophy is: I am a firm believer “If you have knowledge pass it on to those who do not”. I also believe that playing sports as a child, not only builds character and confidence but also gives them a sense of accomplishment. It also prepares them for life. Working as a team or as a team player. Not as an individual. I also feel it can bring a child out of his/her shell or shyness.”
Coach Corey played WR, LB, FS, PR, and KR and was a three-year varsity football player. He also played Basketball two on varsity as D player (not the best shooter, but could dunk); ran the 100m, 200m, 400m, 100m relay, 200m relay, and the 400m relay. and High Jump. The 400m was my best event with running 49.5, and placing in NCS
Teaching:
I was K-4 PE teacher for five years, and loved those students still to this day. During the summer I worked at one of the highest rated Sports Camps in the Bay Area for four years. This gave me the experience to be able to run my own camps. For a yeaer I was a Sports and Fitness director after teaching, and now I train people in Bootcamps and still run kids camps.
After many years of coaching and teaching it’s now time to talk about what has been working. Get advice on all sports, and learn what it takes to succeed to the next level. follow me on Twitter @coreyturnbeaugh, and FB. nice work Corey…your players should be thankful!
Thanks Stacey
Extremely glad to make the connection. Look forward to keeping touch in the future!
I wasn’t expecting your story when I read your About Me section. It’s nice to see other coaches and their philosophy being focused solely on the athletes.
Thank you, I feel that is the most important part of being a good coach
